Victory
in the centre is surrounded by the Sailor, the Forester, the Merchant Mariner
and the Infantryman.
They have stood guard at Kings Beach for over 80 years. They are stone cold,
the ice stuck to their faces. But each of them was someone, and they all knew
fear and anguish.
I wanted to look each of them in the eye. The men tell me of sadness etched
deep in their long departed soul. Determination is there also, ready to stand
and fight.
Victory is carrying the torch, she has felt pain, but her eyes look towards
the new dawn arising from the ocean.
